At the height of California’s energy crisis, in February 2001 Saber Partners was hired by the Governor’s office to help the State avoid massive rate increases and to work out a viable solution for the State’s three investor-owned utility companies. Saber quickly rose to the forefront of the Governor’s team of advisors on energy issues, often meeting with teams of Wall Street analysts and investment bankers to explain the State’s position as well as negotiating with the utilities themselves on the State’s behalf. The situation in California is well known for its complexity and political complications, but Saber was able to successfully aid the State during the height of the crisis, bringing about the stability required to reach a long-term solution.
