Charles B. McCarthy is a Senior Managing Director and Senior Advisor of Saber Partners, LLC.
Mr. McCarthy has over 30 years of experience and achievement in the energy industry. Following his 7 years of as an officer in the nuclear submarine service, he spent 23 years at Southern California Edison Company, including 3 years as a Senior Vice President and member of the management committee during which his responsibilities included all aspects of operations, human resources, health care, information services, and a variety of other corporate functions.
Prior to his role as a Senior Vice President, Mr. McCarthy's responsibilities as a Vice President for 7 years rotated through R&D, customer service (6000 employees), and management of Edison's 3-unit San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. In each of these assignments Mr. McCarthy led strategic planning and budget reduction initiatives. Achievements included an INPO #1 rating for the first time at San Onofre.
After leaving Edison in 1994 Mr. McCarthy was in the founding group of New Energy Ventures, the nation's largest non-utility Energy Services Provider. Over the past few years he has been active as an energy industry consultant, a charter member of the Board of the California Power Exchange, and a charter member of the AAA (American Arbitration Association) National Energy Neutrals Panel.
Mr. McCarthy is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (Bachelor of Science) and California State University at Fullerton (MBA). He was selected for nuclear power training after graduation from the Naval Academy and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society upon graduation from California State University, Fullerton.
Mr. McCarthy and his wife, Anita, have three grown children and four grandchildren. They are both active community volunteers with the United Way and other non-profit agencies. Mr. McCarthy is involved nationally and locally with initiatives to implement inquiry-based science programs in elementary schools (K-8).
